MARINA’S STORY…

Marina helping Mom work. Marina and MirrorHi everyone.  My name is Marina.  I am not quite sure where that name came from, but it is certainly easier to say than my Chinese name.  A couple of months ago some really nice people from Goldens Without Borders and Rescue A Golden of AZ came to where I lived with a bunch of my Golden friends in Chengdu China and rescued us from the Chinese Dog meat trade.  Fortunately, we had no idea what was eventually in store for us, so I guess we are some of the luckiest pups in the world.  After a safely crated long flight across the Pacific Ocean my nice rescuers busted me out of my crate and I immediately showed my adorable feisty personality.  I am a very curious 4-year-old girl… seeing myself in the mirror for the first time was fascinating.  I had a friend that looked JUST like me. I was so happy!  (see pic) I also like to run and play and…uh oh…  discovered I like to counter surf when given the opportunity.  I was just so happy to have my freedom and these humans were so nice to me.

Marina and toysMarina 1st picThen next thing I knew I was traveling across the desert to meet my new mom.  Mom immediately fell in love with me, well she told me she loved me from the moment she saw my picture.  And I have a pretty cool brother Coby…he’s a RAGofAZ rescue from Mexico and despite our language barrier we love each other very much and wrestle and play non-stop.  I have been at my forever home for almost 6 weeks now and as time goes on, Mom says my personality keeps coming out more and more.   She says I am super sweet but willful…When I want to go somewhere, I want to go…but I am learning to stay when mom tells me to, and I am learning to walk well right next to my brother on a leash.  Both Coby and I love toys… but we have worked out a system where he has his and I have mine but of course we trade who has what all the time.

All my mom’s friends say that I am the cutest Golden Retriever they have ever seen… mom does too (don’t tell Coby!), and of course I am enjoying my princess status.  Most importantly I love my forever family and they love me back, so I am the luckiest girl in the world.  Thank you RAGofAZ for giving me the best possible life.

Marina C.
